Admission

For admission information for the University of Richmond, please visit one of the following Web sites:

Registration

Only when students have been admitted to the University will they be eligible to register for courses. Only those courses within the student's program of study are eligible to count toward veterans benefits.

Program Selection

Veterans receiving educational benefits may select any program leading to a degree offered at the University of Richmond upon approval from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Only one program may be pursued under certification for benefits. If the veteran decides to major in two programs at the same time, only one will be certified. The VA will not pay for courses that were taken under an unapproved program after the approved program is completed.

Veterans may receive VA benefits for a second degree and for courses taken after completion of a first degree.

Veterans may change a program of study and continue to receive benefits if the new program is approved by Veterans Affairs.

Veterans' Education Benefits

After the admission process is complete and the student has registered for courses, it is necessary to submit the following paperwork to the Veterans Affairs Certifying Official in the Registrar's Office at the University of Richmond:

  • Certificate of Eligibility - After you have applied for and been approved for benefits, you will be issued a Certificate of Eligibility.
  • Veterans Education Agreement Form – Available online or in person at the Registrar's Office.

Enrollment certifications for most benefits are processed approximately one week before the start of classes each semester. Enrollment for recipients of Post 9-11 GI Bill benefits will be certified after the drop/add period each semester. If at any time the student's initial enrollment changes, it is his or her responsibility to contact the school certifying official to avoid payment problems.
