Transcript Requests
Student records, including the academic transcript, are protected by the FERPA privacy act. Only the student may request a copy of their academic record. Family or friends are not permitted to access student records without the written consent of the student.
Only University of Richmond transcripts may be requested or released. Transcripts and documents from other institutions are the property of the University of Richmond and, as such, are under the control of the Office of the University Registrar. Under federal policy, a student has the right to view the documents in his or her file; the University is not required to provide (or allow the making of) copies of these documents. Transcripts submitted to the University of Richmond for admission or credit transfer become the property of the University of Richmond and cannot be returned to the student or forwarded to other institutions.
Please Note
- The University does not fax transcripts.
- No transcript will be released if the student has academic holds. Orders processed through Parchment will be checked for holds and the requestor will be notified at the time of the order if the order cannot be fulfilled due to a hold. If the hold is resolved within 30 days of the order, the transcript will be released and the requestor will then be charged. Otherwise, the order will automatically be canceled and the requestor will not be charged.
- FedEx transcript requests received after 9:00 a.m. ET will be processed the next business day.
