Study Abroad Database
Students planning to study abroad can use the Study Abroad Database as a tool to determine how a course will transfer back for UR credit. The database is a list of courses that have received prior approval. For current course offerings, please consult the specific program brochure pages on the Study Abroad website. If you see a course you want that is not listed, you may request approval utilizing the Study Abroad Course Approval Form (non-business students). Robins School of Business Students will utilize the Study Abroad Course Approval Form for the Robins School of Business. Jepson School of Leadership Studies students will utilize the Study Abroad & Transfer Course Approval Form.
Click here to view a video tutorial of the Study Abroad Database. If you are off campus (not connected to the wireless network), then you will need to be connected to the VPN to access the database.

Do I still need to complete the course approval form?
If a course you plan to take is listed in the study abroad database, you do not need to submit a course approval form, unless you would like it to be established as equivalent to a different UR class. You can find the course approval form here.
-
I see a course listed in the database but it is not currently being offered at the study abroad institution, what do I do?
Not every course listed in the database is offered every semester or every year. You should consult an advisor within International Education or visit Gateway Abroad for current course offerings.
-
I see a course offered that is not in the database, what should I do?
You will need to submit the Study Abroad Course Approval Form (for non-RSB students) or Study Abroad Course Approval Form for the Robins School of Business. Once you have obtained the required signatures (you, department chair(s) and your academic advisor) on the course approval form, submit the form to the Office of the University Registrar for processing.

I see a course that I would like to have approved for a requirement, but it’s approved to meet another requirement. What should I do?
You will need to submit the Study Abroad Course Approval Form (for non-RSB students) or Study Abroad Course Approval Form for the Robins School of Business. Do I still need study abroad advising for the program and classes abroad?
The database is intended as a tool to supplement but not replace advising. You will still need to apply for a semester abroad and be approved by International Education or The Center for International Business Programs. You will also need to follow departmental regulations and policy. Visit the web page of the relevant academic department for their study abroad policies and the name of the departmental chair.
-
What if I don’t see my semester abroad program in the database?
You will need to complete the Course Approval process for each abroad class that you want to transfer back for any requirement.
-
What if I am going on a non-UR summer or winter break abroad program?
Students hoping to earn transfer credit from Non-UR summer abroad or winter break abroad programs must register their programs in Gateway Abroad by June 1 (summer) or December 15 (winter break). No credit will be granted for a non-UR abroad program unless the program has been approved by IE by stated deadlines. More information is linked here.

I am not on campus and cannot access the website.
If you are off campus (not connected to the wireless network), then you will need to be connected to the VPN to access the database.
